Journey’s farewell tour hits town this weekend. Here’s what you need to know about the band, the concert and the venue.

What is Journey’s Final Frontier Tour?

Journey was born in 1973 in San Francisco, which is where the band’s Final Frontier farewell tour wraps up in November. San Antonio fans have one more chance to see the band responsible for hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms” and “Separate Ways.”

When does the concert start?

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Frost Bank Center, 1 Frost Bank Center Drive. Doors open at 6 p.m., and parking lots open at 4:30 p.m.

Are tickets still available?

Some tickets are available in almost every section of the arena, from the floor to the balcony. Tickets cost from $49.85 to $255.70 via ticketmaster.com.

How much does it cost to park at Frost Bank Center?

The arena’s parking lots are accessible via multiple gates along Houston Street and Frost Bank Center Drive. Some advance parking passes were still available in the orange lot for $28.15 as of Wednesday afternoon. Parking on the night of the concert costs $35 and is cashless.

Note: Frost Bank Center recently changed its parking lot identification from numbers to colors; digital parking passes will match the color of their designated lots.

Ride share drivers can drop passengers off at any gate. There is a designated ride-share pickup area in the pink lot (formerly Lot 5).

Five facts about Journey

• Originally known as the Golden Gate Rhythm Section, Journey was formed in 1973 in San Francisco by members of Santana, including guitarist Neal Schon, and the Steve Miller Band. Steve Perry, the singer on the band’s biggest hits, didn’t join Journey until 1977 and first appeared on the 1978 album “Infinity.”

• Journey has had six lead singers: Gregg Rollie (in the band from 1973 to 1980), Robert Fleischman (1977), Steve Perry (1977-1987 and 1995-1998), Steve Augeri (1998-2006), Jeff Scott Soto (2006-2007) and Arnel Pineda (2007-present)

• Journey’s first performance in San Antonio appears to have been in April 1976 opening for Electric Light Orchestra at the Convention Center Arena.

• Journey was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017. The band was inducted by Train singer Pat Monahan, who called it “the heart of San Francisco music.”

• “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which was released as a single in October 1981, has had a long life. It was featured in the highly debated finale of the HBO series “The Sopranos” in June 2007, and the song was showcased in the pilot of the Fox musical series “Glee” in 2009. 

Is there an opening act?

The Final Frontier concert is an “evening with Journey.” There is no opening act.

Pastor Steven Furtick’s Elevation Nights tour stops at Frost Bank Center on Oct. 13. Rap superstar Lil Wayne will headline the arena on Oct. 17. The Spurs open the 2026-27 NBA season there on Oct. 20 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
