Viral World Cup fan Freddy is coming to Dallas.
The German soccer fan and social media personality known as @FreddyLA7 on X will be in town for the Red River Rivalry game between No. 1 Texas and Oklahoma Saturday at the Cotton Bowl. The stop is part of a fall trip through various college football venues that Freddy announced in the summer after the end of his World Cup trip.
The trip began in September, and Freddy has brought his followers along for every step of the way. So far, the trip has included stops in Iowa City for a rivalry game between Iowa and Iowa State at Kinnick Stadium, Jordan-Hare Stadium for Auburn-Florida and Tiger Stadium for LSU-Texas A&M.
After the game in Baton Rouge, Freddy and company headed to Cullman, Ala., for an Oktoberfest celebration before driving back through Arkansas to reach Texas on Thursday.
Freddy rose to prominence over the summer during a road trip through the American South, where his online reactions to a pre-World Cup friendly match at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium and American chains like Buc-ee’s and Taco Bell drew media coverage during the tournament.
The social media personality had originally named the State Fair of Texas as one of the “unique American events” he wanted to check out on his return to the United States. With Texas-OU, he’ll get the full State Fair experience on one of its busiest days. Hopefully, the line for a corny dog isn’t too long.
