Spring pizzeria Slice of Venice has announced it will permanently close on Sunday, Oct. 18. The restaurant was just over a year and a half in operation.
Slice of Venice owner Inna Klebanskaya revealed the news on social media on Wednesday. Klebanskaya didn’t reveal much but said they had given it everything they had.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank every one of you for your support, kindness, encouragement, and love. You have made this little restaurant so much more than a business—you became part of our family and our journey,” Klebanskaya wrote.
Slice of Venice opened in January 2025 at 5275 Louetta Road. The space, attached to a Valero gas station, was previously occupied by a Godfather’s Pizza and a Church’s Chicken. Slice of Venice specialized in New York-style pizzas, homemade pastas, paninis and pinsa romana.
The pizzeria had generated positive buzz, but it appears things were slow going from the start. Food blogger Food Happenings had gone into Slice of Venice in October 2025 and noted how quiet the restaurant was.
In February, Klebanskaya wrote that the restaurant would be changing its hours because of the lack of traffic to Slice of Venice. “Despite all our physical, emotional, and financial efforts, today we must face a painful reality: we do not have enough customers to survive,” she wrote.
Restaurants, in general, are becoming more resilient, the Texas Restaurant Association reports. They’re still not immune from the many pressures of the crushing post-COVID-19 Â economy. That includes restaurants with good products, like Slice of Venice.
