Interstate 10 construction notice from TxDOT.

Travel between Katy and downtown Houston is about to be more congested than usual.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced that the Katy Freeway-Downtown HOV connector will close at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, while crews continue work on the I-10 White Oak Bayou flood-mitigation project. The I-10 eastbound HOV connector at Studemont Street is expected to reopen in fall 2027, while the westbound connector at Franklin Street isn’t expected to reopen until summer 2028.

TxDOT recommends planning for an additional 15 to 30 minutes of travel time while traffic patterns adjust in the area.
