When it’s prime time at AT&T Stadium for a Dallas Cowboys game, you can count on megawatt celebrities making their way to Arlington for the festivities. On Thursday night, country music superstar Lainey Wilson was boot scootin’ in the west end zone with Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders All-Stars prior to Bucs-Cowboys kickoff.
Lainey was kind enough to jump on-air with me for a pregame interview from the sideline on The Dallas Cowboys Radio Network (105.3 The Fan KRLD-FM).
“To join the Cowboy Cheerleaders two years ago and be part of The Red Kettle Kickoff for The Salvation Army was really special because it’s crazy what the Cowboys do for people in need,” Wilson recalled. “It was a special moment in my career. When you’re performing in front of more than 90,000 people, to me, the more the merrier! It’s like I was made for the bigger crowds than the small ones, and so it was a big steppingstone for me.
“And being with America’s Sweethearts made it even more special. I appreciate the ladies on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for the confidence they carry. These girls keep their heads high and their shoulders back, and they have a presence when they walk into the room. Girl power!”
Wilson, like the DCC squad members, serves as a role model for legions of fans. So how does she handle that responsibility?
“Well, you know, I’m human. I will say that. But I know that I have a lot of little girls and boys that see me. Hopefully they see someone who works hard, who is kind, and who stands up for what they believe in. That’s what I want them to see,” Wilson said.
While on the field, Lainey showed off some dance moves with the DCC as she promoted an upcoming live streaming event following Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video.
“Thursday (Oct. 15) after the game you can tune into Amazon Music Live and watch our show,” she says excitedly. “I’m going to be performing my new song (“Kinda Love It”) that actually came out tonight. It will be performed in a show for the very first time, so I’m excited about that and I invite everyone to tune in.”
Is there an equivalency between the energy of a Dallas Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium and a Lainey Wilson concert?
“I would definitely say so,” she said with a smile. “True blue fans. People who love it. People who love football. People who eat, breathe, and sleep it. Country music is the same. It’s good people sharing a passion for good music.”
