Texas volleyball picked up a pair of SEC wins last weekend but also drew the ire of head coach Jerritt Elliott after Sunday’s particularly sloppy 3-1 victory over Alabama. The Longhorns (7-5, 3-1) hit the road this weekend beginning with Friday at Arkansas, and Elliott said this week that his team needs to play better if it hopes to win a third straight match for the first time this season.
The No. 9 Longhorns may have to play without injured starting middle blocker Nya Bunton, who’s nursing a sore knee. But the emergence of freshman outside hitter Henley Anderson could help ease the attention of leading attackers Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears; the Dripping Springs native fired 25 kills in the two matches last weekend while hitting .427.
