Drivers traveling through Northeast San Antonio should prepare for a major Loop 1604 closure this weekend that will force westbound traffic onto alternate lanes and change how drivers reach Lookout Road.
The westbound Loop 1604 mainlanes from Pat Booker Road to Lookout Road will close at 8 p.m. Friday, October 9, through 5 a.m. Monday, October 12. The closure is part of the ongoing I-35 Northeast Expansion Program and will affect westbound drivers traveling through the busy corridor.
The westbound Loop 1604 mainlanes will close at 8 p.m. Friday, October 9, and are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, October 12.
The closure is subject to weather conditions and could be postponed if necessary.
The closure will affect westbound Loop 1604 from Pat Booker Road to Lookout Road. The westbound Loop 1604 off-ramp to Lookout Road also will close during the work.
Drivers will still be able to use the westbound Loop 1604 collector-distributor lanes. The westbound frontage road also will remain open from the I-35/Loop 1604 interchange to Nacogdoches Road.
Westbound traffic will be directed along the Loop 1604 collector-distributor lanes and frontage road to get around the closed mainlanes. Drivers will be able to access the westbound Loop 1604 mainlanes again at Nacogdoches Road. TxDOT will have new signage in place to guide drivers through the changed traffic pattern.
The closure is part of the I-35 Northeast Expansion Program. TxDOT is using the weekend closure to switch westbound Loop 1604 traffic into a new configuration as construction continues along the Northeast Side corridor.
