HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Houston Police Department is investigating after two people were hospitalized after a shooting at a grocery store in southwest Houston on Friday night.
According to HPD, officers responded to a disturbance call just after 8 p.m. at the Great Wall Supermarket at 9800 Bellaire Boulevard.
Police said that a security officer and a man, believed to be in his 20s, were shot at the scene.
According to HPD, the man, who was shot, and his girlfriend went into the store with their dog. Police added that a security guard told the two that the dog is not allowed inside the store due to health concerns. An argument of sorts led to gunfire exchanged between the man and the security guard, authorities said.
HPD said that both the man and the security officer were taken to a hospital. The man’s girlfriend and the dog were not injured in the gunfire, officials said.
