The project, called Tesla Railhead, is located on FM 3349 between Taylor and Hutto.
AUSTIN, Texas — A new project financed by Tesla is set to begin construction in Williamson County later this month.
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), construction on Tesla Railhead at RCR Taylor Logistics Park, located at 201 FM 3349 between Hutto and Taylor, will begin on Oct. 26 with an estimated completion date set for Dec. 18, 2026.
According to KVUE’s media partners at the Austin American-Statesman, Tesla is not listed as the owner of the project but has leased the space since 2024.
The project carries an estimated cost of $1.6 million, according to the filing. The project is entirely privately funded and is expected to add steel hail canopies over the vehicle lot covering more than 229,000 square feet.
The project is the latest the Elon Musk-owned car manufacturer has undertaken in Central Texas. Since 2020, the billionaire has relocated a number of his businesses to the area, including SpaceX, Tesla, Boring Company, Neuralink and X.
