Who doesn’t love a bargain? Texans know and love the power of a good deal, and where better to get the most bang for your buck than by shopping at discount or big-box retailers like Costco Wholesale and Aldi. But, which one offers you the best deals?
YouGov BrandIndex published data late last month evaluating the two grocers to see which one resonated most with shoppers looking to get the most out of their savings. For those with a Costco membership card, y’all are in luck: The Washington-founded big-box company garnered the best value perception among all U.S. adult shoppers, nabbing 38 points compared to Aldi’s 35.
That perception gap grows even more among younger audiences. Gen Z shoppers classified Costco as a far superior budget hack compared to Aldi, awarding the wholesale chain 44 points compared to Aldi’s 32. Similarly, Millennials gave Costco a 43-point lead over Aldi’s 34 points.
The generational divide expands above Millennials, with Gen X shoppers favoring Aldi over the wholesale chain, listing it at 35 points to Costco’s 33. For Baby Boomer shoppers, it was an even split, with 37 points awarded a pop to both Costco and Aldi.
The survey’s findings are a result of asking shoppers which brands represent “good value for money” standards, contrasted by which companies they believed equated to “poor value for money.”
