HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — An investigation is underway after a man was shot and injured following an apparent fight in northwest Harris Couunty, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said that deputies responded to the 9100 block of Rippling Fields Drive around 10 p.m. on Thursday and found a 32-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

HCSO said deputies saw a witness performing life-saving measures on the victim before paramedics arrived and took the man to the hospital, where he underwent treatment.

According to Sgt. Wade with HCSO’s Violent Crimes Unit, the shooting stemmed from a street fight between the victim and three people who lived at the residence where the shooting was reported.

HCSO said that someone then grabbed a firearm from a nearby car and opened fire on the victim.

Officials said the shooting victim and the three men aren’t related but reportedly worked together. HCSO said an earlier incident in the week may have led to the confrontation.

At least two of the three men were detained, but the third suspect remains at large, HCSO said.

HCSO said the man is OK and an investigation is ongoing.
