HOUSTON – A man was hospitalized with gunshot wounds after a homeowner’s son opened fire on him during an encounter in a north Houston backyard late Friday, according to Houston police.
Officers responded to a shooting call around 11:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the 300 block of Glenburnie Drive.
Police said the homeowners first heard a noise and noticed a van outside their residence that they considered suspicious.
The homeowners then checked their backyard and found a man who approached one of them, according to police. The homeowner’s adult son came outside a short time later and fired shots toward the man.
The man suffered two gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. He was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police described both the man who was shot and the homeowner’s son as being in their early 20s.
Investigators said there were no outstanding suspects, but officers were checking the license plate of a vehicle involved in the incident.
Police have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or whether any charges will be filed.
