As the OU-Texas game played out in Dallas, fans in Norman and across the metro gathered to cheer on their team, sharing mixed halftime reactions about the Sooners’ performance.

It’s been a close Red River Rivalry game in Dallas, and while many Sooner fans have made their way to the Cotton Bowl, fans here in Norman and across the metro still showed up in force for their team.

OU student Emmalee Fontenot said, “But we think the game is actually going pretty good considering how (quarterback John) Mateer has been before.”

“I think the defense and special teams are playing really well, but the uh hopefully that offense can kick in and get going. I know that Texas defense is pretty stout,” said OU fan Jonathan Fitzsimmons.

“It’s happened before, we can do it,” said OU students Libby Stone and Ivory Miller.

Not all fans were as optimistic. When asked if OU could pull off a win, OU fan Chance Hale said, “No, no, no, that’s no, that ain’t happening.”

Despite differing opinions on the game, fans shared one sentiment: “Horns Down.”

“Horns Down! Horns Down, baby! Horns Down! Horn hater right here!” said Fontenot and fellow OU student Kyndale Barfield.

“Horns Down,” said Stone and Miller.

“Horns Down! That’s all I gotta say. Horns Down!” said OU fan Ricky Thornburg.

Fans will continue to show their support for the Sooners as the game unfolds.
