Several Fort Worth-area football teams had big wins in Week 7.
Here are five takeaways from the action:
Aledo gets back on track against Arlington Bowie
Aledo head coach Robby Jones was blunt after the Bearcats lost their 136-game district win streak against Arlington Martin.
There was no “right way” to take it. They just had to move forward and play better football. And Aledo did just that, picking up a dominant 45-7 victory over Arlington Bowie, a back-to-back district champion, Friday at Buchanan Stadium.
Aledo led Bowie 14-7 at the half. The Bearcats (3-3, 2-1 District 3-6A) outscored the Volunteers 31-0 the rest of the game.
Haslet Eaton stuns Keller Central
Haslet Eaton upset Keller Central on Thursday, earning a 28-27 victory in a thriller.
The key for the Eagles was forcing six turnovers. Despite giving up over 550 yards of offense, Eaton’s timely plays gave the team a chance it capitalized on.
The win makes the District 4-6A playoff race a bit chaotic. Eaton holds a win over Keller Central, while the Central Chargers hold a win over Byron Nelson. The Bobcats hold a win over Eaton.
Perennial power Southlake Carroll and upstart Keller are undefeated in 4-6A play and will face off for first place next Friday in Southlake. The rest of the district is wide open.
Weatherford downs Arlington Lamar
Weatherford picked up a crucial 35-28 win over Arlington Lamar on Friday, moving into the District 3-6A playoff hunt.
The Roos have a 2-1 district record, which is the same as Aledo, Arlington and Arlington Bowie. Arlington Martin is the sole team to remain undefeated.
The victory gives Weatherford a strong chance of competing for a playoff spot. Lamar entered the game with a strong resume, as it held a win over Arlington and narrowly lost to Bowie, forcing overtime.
The Roos went winless in district in 2025 and haven’t made the playoffs since the 2021 season.
Grapevine finds a win against Eagle Mountain
Grapevine football moved to 1-1 in District 3-5A Division II, seizing a 34-14 victory over Fort Worth Eagle Mountain on Friday.
It’s the first district win for the Mustangs (3-3 overall) since 2023 and the first in head coach Ryan Smith’s tenure. The past two seasons have been a challenge for Grapevine; the ‘Stangs had one win in those two years.
Smith took over ahead of the 2025 season. In 2026, the program is showing signs of progress with two wins through Week 7.
The playoffs are a tall task in 3-5A Division II with powers such as Colleyville Heritage, Lucas Lovejoy and Argyle, but keep an eye on the Mustangs to make a dent in the gap. Not too long ago, from 2020 through 2023, Grapevine boasted a 27-2 district run.
Mansfield Summit, Burleson Centennial thrive
Two team took home crucial District 8-5A Division I wins Friday: Mansfield Summit and Burleson Centennial.
Mansfield Summit beat Cedar Hill 41-19, while Burleson Centennial bested Mansfield Legacy 35-7. Both were incredibly strong wins that suggest the programs have a good shot at landing a playoff berth with a strong end to the regular season.
Both the Jaguars and the Spartans are 2-1, which is a tie for second in district alongside Lancaster. DeSoto is the sole remaining undefeated team.
