Week 6 of the College Football season delivered! We have a new #1 as Texas went down swinging in the Red River Rivalry to Oklahoma, 27-24. #6 Alabama versus #2 Georgia lived up to the hype as it came down to the wire resulting in a 20-17 Bulldogs win. UCLA edged out Oregon and Kentucky outlasted LSU in OT for two of the many entertaining top 25 matchups from the past weekend. The Top 25 is shaken up now and I can’t even imagine where we’ll be next week with all of the headlining games. Let’s take a look at my Top 25 entering Week 7.
1. Georgia Bulldogs (+1)
2026 Record: 6-0 (4-0)
Last Game: 20-17 win at #6 Alabama
Next Game: Vs Auburn— Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
Georgia versus Alabama lived up to the hype! It was Georgia’s third win over Alabama in the last 11 meetings and first in the regular season since 2007! Georgia ran for 206 yards behind Dwight Phillips Jr. career night of 120 yards on 17 carries. Gunner Stockton completed 18 of his 22 passes for 249 yards and accounted for both of Georgia’s touchdowns (one pass, one rush). The Bulldogs outgained the Tide in yards, 455-346, but it all came down to a personal foul call that ended the game and eliminated Alabama’s last gasp. Georgia is the undisputed No. 1 entering Week 7. No one else has a case.

2. Miami Hurricanes (+1)
2026 Record: 5-0 (3-0)
Last Game: 41-13 win vs Clemson
Next Game: Vs Florida State — Saturday at 7:00 PM ET
Miami is coming off the bye week to host interstate rival Florida State. The Seminoles are fresh off a 44-20 loss at Louisville where they allowed 30 second-half points. Miami won 28-22 last year at Florida State, but it was 28-3 entering the fourth quarter, so the game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Miami is a -21 point favorite this year. This one could get ugly and Mike Norvell‘s seat will get warmer.
3. Ohio State Buckeyes (+1)
2026 Record: 5-1 (3-0)
Last Game: 45-16 win vs Maryland
Next Game: Vs #7 Indiana — Saturday at 12:00 PM ET
Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith had another huge outing. What’s new? Sayin finished with four touchdowns and 242 passing yards, while Smith caught four passes for 93 yards and two scores. Smith enters Week 7 as the Heisman favorite as the offense continues to roll with 39.3 points per game in conference play. The Buckeyes defense held Maryland to 146 total yards, 64 of that coming from the pass! Ohio State didn’t have a single sack on 25 pass attempts and lost the turnover battle 2-0, so there were a few things to work on ahead of a top-10 matchup at Indiana.
4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+3)
2026 Record: 6-0
Last Game: 58-7 win vs Stanford
Next Game: At #8 BYU — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
Notre Dame routed Stanford for the Irish’s 16th-straight win and all 16 coming by double-digits! But, the real season starts now for the Irish. Notre Dame goes to BYU and that will shape both teams’ playoff hopes. Notre Dame has looked like a well-oiled machine in all but one game this season (UNC). Notre Dame opens as a -12.5 point favorite at BYU and the Irish have no distractions with a bye week following this top 10 showdown.
5. Alabama Crimson Tide (+1)
2026 Record: 5-1 (3-1)
Last Game: 20-17 loss vs #2 Georgia
Next Game: At #15 Tennessee — Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
Despite the 20-17 loss to Georgia, I am going to move Alabama up one spot. They proved they are a top-five team in the country whereas Indiana almost lost to Nebraska and has looked shaky, and I am absolutely not taking the Big 12 trio of Texas Tech, BYU, and Utah over the Tide. With Texas’ loss coming to an unranked Oklahoma and Alabama’s coming to #2 Georgia, it’s an easy choice to keep Bama in the top five.
Keelon Russell had a 226 total yards and one touchdown, Ryan Coleman-Williams left the game twice with injury, and the Bama defense forced Georgia into four fumbles, but only recovered one. Alabama only had three possessions in the second half and two resulted in punts and the other was a field goal. The loss was a tough pill to swallow, especially with three road contests in the next four games for the Tide.
6. Texas Longhorns (-5)
2026 Record: 4-1 (1-1)
Last Game: 27-24 loss vs Oklahoma
Next Game: Vs #16 Florida — Saturday at 12:00 PM ET
Texas had not one, but two opportunities late to beat Oklahoma, but Gianni Spetic missed a 53-yard field goal then Arch Manning threw an interception on the following drive with 19 seconds remaining that led to Oklahoma’s walk off field goal. Texas outgained Oklahoma in yards 382-238 and the two teams combined for 15 penalties and 5-of-17 on third downs. It was a true rivalry game and a terrific watch. While the Longhorns won’t be No. 1 anymore, their playoff chances are impacted much, but that might change over the next month or so. Texas plays Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, and LSU, so it’s tome to start having the conversation that Texas missing the playoff is a possibility if the SEC cannibalizes itself.
7. Indiana Hoosiers (-2)
2026 Record: 6-0 (3-0)
Last Game: 20-17 win at Nebraska
Next Game: Vs #5 Ohio State — Saturday at 12:00 PM ET
Boy, oh boy! Nebraska was so close to upsetting Indiana, but Matt Rhule found a way to lose a big game. Surprise! The Hoosiers didn’t wake up until the fourth quarter. Indiana went down 17-6, then Nick Marsh happened! Marsh went for 75-yards on the first play following a Nebraska touchdown, then Indiana forced a punt and lightning struck twice! On fourth down, Marsh went untouched 44 yards to the end zone and the rest is history. The letdown spot was real for Indiana and Ohio State opens as a -2 point road favorite for the week 7 showdown. The winner will have the inside track to the Big Ten Championship and a top-four seed in the playoffs.
8. Texas Tech Red Raiders
2026 Record: 5-0 (2-0)
Last Game: Bye Week
Next Game: Vs Arizona State — Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
Texas Tech was as dominant as can be last season coming out of a bye week. The Red Raiders beat Houston (35-11) and West Virginia (49-0) allowing 180 and 267 yards allowed. The Red Raiders will host Arizona State this year out of the bye week, which is a spot this team 100-percent circled. Texas Tech’s only regular season loss last year was at Arizona State (26-22). The Red Raiders went on to win the next six games and hold those teams to a combined 43 points. Lubbock will be a fun atmosphere for that revenge spot.

9. BYU Cougars
2026 Record: 5-0 (3-0)
Last Game: 24-10 win vs Iowa State
Next Game: Vs #3 Notre Dame — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
BYU held TCU and Iowa State to 10 points apiece back-to-back weeks. Without the 2025 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, LJ Martin, BYU’s offense went off without a hitch. The Cougars posted 506 yards of offense as Bear Bachmeier threw for a season-high 329 yards and touchdowns, plus he ran for a season-high 109 yards. The BYU defense held Iowa State to 2-of-13 on third down and 200 yards of offense. Notre Dame at BYU will be cinema this weekend!
10. Utah Utes
2026 Record: 5-0 (2-0)
Last Game: 41-24 win vs Kansas
Next Game: At Colorado — Saturday at 10:15 PM ET
Utah was in a pickle for a bit versus Kansas entering the fourth quarter up 27-24 before pulling away with two touchdowns on 75 and 99-yard drives. The Utes offense put up 545 yards, gained 31 first downs, and had the ball over 39 minutes. Wayshawn Parker went for 171 yards and two touchdowns on Kansas two weeks after 174 yards and two scores at Iowa State. Utah’s defense allowed 333 passing yards and didn’t record a single sack, so there was a lot of room for improvement despite the offensive explosion.

11. Ole Miss Rebels
2026 Record: 4-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 52-17 win at Vanderbilt
Next Game: Vs #14 Missouri — Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
Ole Miss spit out 52 points on Vanderbilt coming out of the bye week as the Rebels shook off the 52-28 loss to Florida. The Rebels defense forced four turnovers and Trinidad Chambliss threw three touchdown passes and 213 yards on 20-of-30 (66.7%). Kewan Lacy made his return from injury and shook off some rest with seven carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Ole Miss has three ranked games in the next four weeks: Missouri, Texas, Auburn, and Georgia.
12. Kentucky Wildcats (+6)
2026 Record: 5-1 (3-1)
Last Game: 35-34 OT win vs #10 LSU
Next Game: At Oklahoma— Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
Kentucky has won back-to-back weeks by the same score (35-34) in OT over South Carolina and LSU. The Wildcats are streaking right now with four-straight wins and two of them being ranked. Kentucky ran for 155 yards on LSU, committed only two penalties and didn’t turn the ball over once. The Wildcats haven’t turned the ball over at all in their last three SEC games and six combined penalties in the past two. It’s hard to imagine Kentucky playing any better than they are now, but the offense will be tested at Oklahoma this weekend.
13. Oklahoma State Cowboys
2026 Record: 3-1 (1-0)
Last Game: 42-28 win vs UCF
Next Game: At #22 Houston — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
Oklahoma State’s opened conference play with 41 and 42 points and put up 609 and 414 yards of offense. Drew Mestemaker is climbing into the long shot conversation for Heisman after 695 total yards and six touchdowns in the last two games. Oklahoma State goes to Houston this week for the Cowboys first ranked matchup since beating #6 Oregon.
14. Missouri Tigers
2026 Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 27-6 win vs Texas A&M
Next Game: At #9 Ole Miss — Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
There was no falloff for Missouri after demolishing Florida 45-17. The Tigers ran for 252 yards as a team, but it was all about Jamal Roberts. He totaled 222 of that and both touchdowns. Roberts’ 34 carries and 222 rushing yards were career-highs, which is wild considering he set a career-high with 211 rushing yards and three touchdowns last week. If Missouri goes to Ole Miss and beats them this week and Roberts has another huge game to build off 433 rushing yards and five touchdowns in the last two games — it might be time to talk about Roberts like we have Florida’s Jadan Baugh.

15. UCLA Bruins (+9)
2026 Record: 5-0 (3-0)
Last Game: 17-15 win at #13 Oregon
Next Game: Vs Wisconsin — Saturday at TBD
One of the biggest surprises of the season has to be UCLA. No one saw Nico Iamaleava (162 yards, 2 INTs) taking the Bruins this far, but the James Madison transfer Wayne Knight (115 yards, 2 TDs) has made a big difference in this offense, while the defense has over exceeded exactions. UCLA’s defense held Oregon to a season-low 272 yards, the Bruins forced five fumbles and grabbed two interceptions against the Ducks. UCLA is at home for the next three weeks against Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Nevada. If UCLA wins those three, then there’s a realistic chance at 11-1 or 12-0 with Illinois, Michigan, and USC to end the year. Wouldn’t that be mind-blowing?
16. Boise State Broncos
2026 Record: 4-1 (1-0)
Last Game: Pending result vs Fresno State
Next Game: At Washington State — Saturday at 6:00 PM ET
The halftime score of Boise State at Fresno State is currently Broncos leading 25-20. Boise State has over 300 yards of offense at the half as both teams have combine for over 500 yards so far. If Boise State hangs on to win, they’ll be around the 16-20 spot, but if they lose, out of the top 25 they go.
17. USC Trojans (+2)
2026 Record: 6-1 (3-1)
Last Game: 31-23 win at Penn State
Next Game: Bye Week
USC earned itself a major win in Happy Valley beating a desperate Penn State. The Trojans went into the storm of the White Out and walked out with 430 yards of offense and no turnovers. USC’s big three showed up in primetime. Jayden Maiava threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, King Miller ran for 102 yards and a score, plus Trent Mosley caught nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. USC has played seven consecutive games as they enter the bye week, then a road trip to Wisconsin awaits the Trojans.

18. LSU Tigers (-6)
2026 Record: 4-2 (1-2)
Last Game: 35-34 OT loss at Kentucky
Next Game: Vs #17 Mississippi State — Saturday at 12:00 PM ET
Ouch. Ole Miss went for two to go up eight for a kill shot on LSU three weeks ago, then Kentucky went for two in OT to beat LSU Saturday night. The Tigers whole season might come down to two-point conversions. Both LSU and Kentucky played a tight contest. The largest lead was four and both teams had multiple chances to win in regulation before the Wildcats put the nail in LSU’s (playoff) coffin. Unless LSU beats Alabama or Texas at home next month and wins out for a 9-3 record, the Tigers have no hope of making the playoffs.
19. Mississippi State Bulldogs
2026 Record: 4-1 (2-1)
Last Game: Bye Week
Next Game: At #10 LSU — Saturday at 12 PM ET
Mississippi State goes to Death Valley with an extra week of preparation in their back pocket. The Bulldogs will enter the gauntlet over the next three weeks with LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas on the schedule. Mississippi State can’t afford to lose two-straight if they want to make the playoff. With Kamario Taylor, I wouldn’t write them off, but the defense has to find a way to get back to its early season form.

20. Iowa Hawkeyes (NR)
2026 Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 41-24 win at Washington
Next Game: Bye Week
Kamari Moulton was on another level in Iowa’s 41-24 win at Washington. Moulton ran for 208 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. That was by far a season-high as Iowa had to play backup quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski due to Hank Brown‘s shoulder injury. Hecklinski threw for three touchdowns and 202 yards on 14-of-19 (73.7%). Luckily, Iowa enters the bye week, so Brown has extra time to recover, but either way, Iowa may have two decent quarterbacks.
21. Oklahoma Sooners (NR)
2026 Record: 3-2 (1-1)
Last Game: 27-24 win vs #1 Texas
Next Game: Vs Kentucky — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
John Mateer delivered an absolute dot to Isaiah Sategna on a four-play 31-yard drive that was capped off by a 47-yard Tate Sandell field goal with no time remaining. It was an epic ending to a loaded day of upsets. Oklahoma picked off Arch Manning twice in the fourth quarter, one returned for a touchdown, and the other setting up the game-winning field goal. Oklahoma’s defense may be their best offense if you ask me. Oklahoma goes to Kentucky next in a game where both teams are in traditional letdown spots.

22. Houston Cougars
2026 Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 35-16 win at Kansas State
Next Game: At #18 Oklahoma State — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
Houston jumped out to a 28-3 lead at Kansas State and never looked back. The Wildcats had four first half drives and Houston forced Kansas State into three punts and a field goal. Houston held Kansas State to 299 yards and Connor Weigman tied a season-high with four touchdown passes and 263 yards himself. Houston lost by two points to Texas Tech in their only ranked matchup this season. Houston goes to Oklahoma State this weekend for its second. Houston is 2-7 against ranked opponents since 2022.

23. Wake Forest Demon Deacons
2026 Record: 5-1 (3-1)
Last Game: 38-14 win at NC State
Next Game: At California — Saturday at TBD
Wake Forest is rollllllllling! The Demon Deacons have scored 30, 57, and 38 points over the last three games. Since losing to #5 Miami, Wake Forest beat #16 Louisville, throttled Stanford, and smacked NC State. Wake Forest held NC State to 15 rushing yards on Saturday and outgained the Wolfpack in yards 387-258. Gio Lopez continued his stellar play with four total touchdowns and 303 passing yards on 26-of-33 (78.7%). Lopez has 15 total touchdowns to one interception on the season to go along with 1,569 yards through six games — a far cry from 1,880 total yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 11 games with UNC.
24. Tennessee Vols (-3)
2026 Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 24-17 win at Arkansas
Next Game: Vs #6 Alabama — Saturday at 3:30 PM ET
Tennessee entered the fourth quarter down 14-10 to Arkansas, but rallied with 74 and 94-yard fourth quarter drives to win the game. Tennessee outgained Arkansas 414-288 in yards, but lost the turnover battle 3-1, plus struggled on third downs (4/12). The Vols started George MacIntyre at quarterback and he tossed two picks to one touchdown, and 247 yards on 18-of-29 (62%). MacIntyre and the Vols host Alabama next. It might get ugly as Alabama wants a bounce back win following the home loss to Georgia.
25. Oregon Ducks (-11)
2026 Record: 3-2 (1-1)
Last Game: 17-15 loss vs #21 UCLA
Next Game: Vs Nebraska — Saturday at TBD
So, if you want to go to a Chris Brown concert and win football games, do you go to UCLA? Asking for a friend. There’s a quarterback controversy brewing in Eugene as Dan Lanning benched Dylan Raiola in favor of Brock Thomas against UCLA. Railoa went 6-of-19 for 43 passing yards, two interceptions, and a lost fumble. Thomas completed 11 out of 15 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown, plus a lost fumble.

Out of the Top 25

16. Florida Gators
2026 Record: 4-2 (2-2)
Last Game: 38-19 loss vs South Carolina
Next Game: At #1 Texas — Saturday at 12:00 PM ET
Florida turned the ball over three times against South Carolina and couldn’t get Jadan Baugh going as he put up back-to-back duds. Baugh went for 70 total yards and the offense in general was very inconsistent. The Gators couldn’t stop LaNorris Sellers as he put up five total touchdowns and 299 total yards at The Swamp.
25. Minnesota Golden Gophers
2026 Record: 4-2 (2-1)
Last Game: 41-13 loss at Purdue
Next Game: Bye Week
What else is there to say? PJ Fleck made America smile over the last two weeks with narrow wins and postgame antics over Michigan and Washington before sleepwalking to a 28-point loss to Purdue. Minnesota’s run is over, but it was fun while it lasted.
New to the Top 25
21. Oklahoma Sooners (NR)
2026 Record: 3-2 (1-1)
Last Game: 27-24 win vs #1 Texas
Next Game: Vs Kentucky — Saturday at 7:30 PM ET
Of course a win over the No. 1 team in the country gets you back in the Top 25. However, a loss against Kentucky this upcoming weekend will bump the Sooners right back out.
20. Iowa Hawkeyes (NR)
2026 Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Last Game: 41-24 win at Washington
Next Game: Bye Week
After a loss to Ohio State, bumped Iowa out for Minnesota, but that was a mistake. The Hawkeyes offense was impressive at Washington and no matter who the quarterback is moving forward, Iowa is in a solid spot with zero ranked opponents remaining.
