EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Community College Trustee Bonnie Soria Najera has been re-elected to serve as a member on the West Region Board of Directors for the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT).
She was re-elected during the assocation’s annual conference held Sept. 17-19 in Baytown, Texas.
CCATT is a statewide organization representing trustees and regents who govern Texas community colleges. The association promotes effective governance, trustee education, advocacy, and leadership development in support of student success and strong local colleges across the state, EPCC said.
Soria Najera serves as vice chair of the EPCC Board of Trustees.
“Serving as the West Region Board of Directors for the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) is an opportunity to work alongside fellow trustees and regents from Texas to strengthen the practice of effective governance and advance student success,” Soria Najera said. “I look forward to contributing EPCC’s perspective, learning from other higher education leaders, and advancing the important work of community colleges in our region and across Texas.”
Through service on the CCATT Board of Directors, Soria Najera will help guide statewide initiatives and advocacy efforts that support effective governance and strengthen Texas community colleges’ ability to serve students, employers, and communities, EPCC said.
“Ms. Soria Najera’s re-election to the CCATT Board of Directors reflects her deep commitment to higher education and prioritizing the role strong governance plays in helping EPCC serve our students and community,” EPCC President William Serrata, Ph.D., said. “We appreciate her willingness to take on this leadership role and represent EPCC while working collaboratively with trustees and leaders to champion student success locally and across Texas.”
