The Texas Longhorns had a rough weekend, taking hits on both the field and the recruiting trail.

Royal, a five-star prospect from Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, flipped to the Florida Gators after having a commitment to Texas since November 2025. He was also highly sought after by LSU.

The senior stands at just 5-foot-1, 200 pounds, but his speed is elite among high school prospects. He set a Louisiana state track record with a 10.17-second 100-meter dash, which would already make him one of the fastest players in college football.

With just under two months before the early signing period begins, Texas still has a top 10 2027 recruiting class, but they trail Oklahoma and in-state rival Texas A&M, who has the No. 1 class in the country. Offensive tackle Ismael Camara, the top overall prospect in Texas, is the Longhorns’ other five-star commitment.
