After months of waiting San Antonio, the time may finally arrive soon for temperatures in the area to drop enough that walking outside won’t cause an immediate sweat.
The National Weather Service is looking ahead to the rest of the week beginning October 12, and a startling drop in temperatures from the beginning to the end is in store for all of South Central Texas. “Warm and humid conditions persist through midweek with highs in the mid 80s to upper 90s,” the NWS said. “Early to midweek rain chances focus along and east of I-35. A cold front then brings additional scattered rain chances late week. Dry and cooler for next week.”
On Tuesday October 13, temperatures from Eagle Pass to Del Rio, Austin to San Antonio and others have forecasted highs of 95 degrees or higher. While rain chances will be scattered on Tuesday as well, Wednesday, October 14 will see a sharp increase of possible storms across the area. Chances for storms will linger until Friday, October 16, with some areas getting as high as a 55% chance of precipitation through that period.
However, as rain chances begin to dwindle, the San Antonio area’s temperatures will begin to cool off, as lows begin to sink heading into the weekend, especially around the Hill Country. Fredericksburg and Llano may even see temps fall as low 49 degrees on Sunday, October 18. And if you’re asking about San Antonio, yes, lows could get down into the upper-50s.
As for rain chances in San Antonio, following Monday, October 12, it’ll be a steady 20-30% chance of precipitation until Saturday, October 17. It’ll be an interesting week for showers, storms, heat and cold, so buckle up for the roller coaster, y’all. It’s going to be a week.
