Dallas ISD families whose children did not meet the third-grade performance standard in the reading State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness in 2026 can now access a state grant for additional tutoring.

Applications are open for a $400 grant available through the Parent Access to Supplemental Support program to cover early literacy tutoring services.

Parents may select either in-person or virtual tutoring from the approved list of tutors or tutoring providers. After approval, tutoring can begin as soon as the selected provider has availability.

Parents will not receive the $400 directly. If approved, the money will be placed in a ClassWallet marketplace. The ClassWallet account is created using the PASS account email address and the contact information provided in the PASS Parent Portal. Payments are made directly to the tutor from the ClassWallet account.

Dallas ISD will continue to provide free tutoring services independent of the grant for students who need additional support in reading.

Step-by-step instructions for creating a PASS Portal Account, reviewing eligibility criteria, and completing the application process are available on the state’s website at pass.tea.texas.gov. Additional information can be found on this one-page document. The one-page document is also available in a Spanish version.
