Authorities recovered a body believed to be that of a 16-year-old swimmer who went missing at a Texas Gulf Coast beach this weekend.

A body believed to be that of 16-year-old Noah Dominguez was recovered around 2 p.m. Saturday, according to a Facebook post from Texas EquuSearch. Dominguez was last seen in the water at Surfside Beach on Oct. 9 around 1:30 p.m. when he was caught in a current and pulled under.

The 16-year-old was at the beach with his girlfriend when he entered the water near the main entrance, the Surfside Beach Police Department told ABC13. Authorities initially used a drone to search for the teen after receiving a call about a swimmer in distress before shifting to recovery efforts.

A Facebook post that appeared to be from Dominguez’s parents called for volunteers to help search for Noah on Saturday.

“This is a devastating and tragic loss,” Texas EquuSearch wrote. “Our hearts are heavy as we extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Noah’s family, friends, and everyone who loved him. We hope they find comfort and strength as they navigate this unimaginable time.”

The nonprofit search and recovery organization thanked its volunteers, the Surfside Police Department, and the U.S. Coast Guard for assisting with the search efforts.

“In times like these, we are reminded of the power of community, compassion, and the people who come together when a family needs them most,” the organization wrote. “Please keep Noah’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, Noah.”
