“Dear friends and family it’s with a heavy heart that I share my father, Randy, passed away yesterday evening. His connections on here meant a lot to him. The outpouring of love and support he received when giving life updates was very comforting. I’ll share details for visitation and celebration of life soon. We find peace in knowing my father is no longer suffering, but are struggling with out last goodbye. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. Feel free to share a favorite memory you have of him here. We’d love to read them.”
The City of Lubbock also confirmed Christian’s death in a statement Monday.
During his time on the council, Christian focused on public health and downtown revitalization, according to the city. He pushed for the creation of Source to Solution: A Regional Addiction and Recovery Symposium in 2019.
The symposium has since become an annual event hosted by the Lubbock Public Health District, offering resources, fellowship and knowledge for those affected by addiction, the city said. This year’s event will be the seventh, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Christian’s adopted motto was “Lucky Me, I Live in Lubbock.” The city said his civic and personal efforts were rooted in that belief.
The City of Lubbock extended condolences to Christian’s family.
