As the fall continues, so does UTA Athletics, with five teams in action this week.
Here’s the schedule for Tuesday to Oct. 19.
Volleyball
The volleyball team will finish a four-game road trip with two away games this week, starting against the University of North Alabama at 6 p.m. Thursday at CB&S Bank Arena in Florence, Alabama.
The Mavericks then head to the University of West Georgia for a matchup at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Coliseum in Carrollton, Georgia. Last time the two teams faced off, UTA won in five sets.
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
Cross-country
The cross-country teams will head to the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday at the Dale Watts ’71 Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.
The Texas A&M University-hosted meet will have the men’s 8K at 8:15 a.m. and the women’s 6K at 8:50 a.m.
Last time the Mavericks competed, the women finished fourth and the men seventh in the 38th Annual Chile Pepper Festival, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Women’s sophomore runner Dorcas Jepkosgei was the only Maverick to finish on the podium, finishing runner-up by 0.1 seconds.
Men’s tennis
The men’s tennis team will compete in the Ralph O’Connor Invitational this weekend at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston.
The Rice University-hosted tournament will run from Friday to Sunday.
The meet will be the Mavericks’ second of the season, following the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Texas regionals in Fort Worth last weekend.
Men’s golf
The men’s golf team will start the final round of the Tall City Collegiate at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas.
The Mavericks enter the final round tied for eighth at four-over-par. The team hit a combined 11-over in the first round, forcing themselves into a last-place hole that was dug out of with a seven-under second round.
UTA’s provisional highest placer is sophomore Ajay Morris, who is tied for ninth at three-under, having jumped up 27 spots from the first to the second round.
Women’s golf
The women’s golf team will finish up one tournament and start another this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Mavericks will conclude the Golf Iconic Classic at the New Mexico State Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
UTA finished the first round 18th out of the 19 teams, going 23-over-par. The team’s highest current provisional finisher is junior Chloe De Verner, tied for 55th at 4-over.
After leaving New Mexico, the Mavericks will head to the Diamante Intercollegiate at the Diamante Country Club in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. The event will run from Sunday to Oct. 20.
