LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — The Texas Inn, one of Virginia’s oldest continually operating restaurants, is celebrating its 91st birthday on Tuesday by selling 91-cent hot dogs.
The Texas Inn, known as The T Room, opened in Lynchburg in 1935 and now has four locations in Lynchburg, Harrisonburg and Richmond.

There is a limit of 6 hot dogs per customer to ensure that everyone gets a chance to buy hot dogs at 1980s prices.
“For one day a year, we like to sell a whole lot of hot dogs for next to nothing,” owner Dave Saunders said in a media release. “It’s our way of saying thank you to the friends and customers who have kept us going for 91 years. We’ve been doing this for a long time, and it’s become one of our favorite traditions.”

Sanders said the annual birthday tradition is all about giving back to the customers who have supported the restaurant for generations.
