Houston community advocate Samuel Jacobson, known to friends and colleagues as Sam, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Houston Commission on Disabilities.
With a longtime commitment to community engagement, nonprofit leadership, strategic partnerships, accessibility and belonging, Jacobson looks forward to bringing that experience to the Commission. He will work alongside Commission chair, Adele Henry; fellow commissioners, Angel Ponce, director of the Houston Office for People with Disabilities; Mayor John Whitmire; and Houston City Council to advance accessibility and inclusion throughout Houston.
“I am honored to serve the city of Houston and give back to a community that has given me so much,” Jacobson said. “For me, this is also an extension of the Jewish value of tikkun olam, repairing the world. I look forward to listening, building partnerships and helping make Houston more accessible and inclusive for everyone.”
