Dallas-Fort Worth will see more hot, humid weather Wednesday, with a heat index forecast expected to top 100 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, Wednesday’s high is forecast to reach 92 degrees, with overnight lows in the 70s. Due to increased humidity, Wednesday’s heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is likely to hit 101 degrees.
“This pattern better resembles what we experience in September, but here we are in mid-October with highs in the 90s and heat index values in the low 100s,” the weather service said in its Tuesday afternoon forecast.

Some areas of Dallas-Fort Worth may see scattered showers and storms Wednesday and into Thursday. Late Thursday, a cold front is set to arrive in Dallas-Fort Worth, bringing high temperatures that will top out only in the 70s.
“Our first ‘real fall’ cold front of the season is forecast to rush through North and Central Texas Thursday night and early Friday morning,” the weather service said.
North Texans can also expect to feel breezy winds Wednesday, with gusts of up to 25 mph.
While areas in southern Oklahoma and in the Texas Panhandle could see strong to severe storms this week, the weather service does not currently anticipate severe storms in North Texas.

North Texas is forecast to see sustained windy conditions of 20 to 30 mph Friday, with gusts of up to 40 mph. Because of the potentially damaging winds, the weather service may issue a wind advisory for Friday.
A wind advisory is issued when strong, non-thunderstorm winds are occurring or expected that could cause minor property damage or hazardous driving conditions.
The weather service encourages storing or securing loose items before the strong winds arrive, including patio furniture, sports equipment, trash cans and trampolines. Additionally, due to the upcoming Halloween holiday, the weather service encourages also securing Halloween decorations before heading to bed Thursday night.
