Steak 48 is bringing its take on the modern American steakhouse to Dallas, with a two-story restaurant planned for the corner of McKinney Avenue and Monticello Avenue.

The restaurant, from the creators of Mastro’s Steakhouse, will sit between Highland Park and Knox Street and span about 14,000 square feet. Construction is expected to begin soon, though an opening date has not yet been announced.

What To Expect Inside

Steak 48 is being designed around several distinct spaces rather than one large dining room. Guests will find a dining lounge, an elevated dining area and multiple dining rooms and suites. Some of the private suites will overlook the restaurant’s glass-enclosed kitchen, giving diners a front-row view of the culinary team.

Upstairs, tables will surround an indoor decorative pool, adding an unexpected feature to the steakhouse setting. The design will mix warm wood with custom stone details throughout the restaurant.

“We love Dallas and have spent years searching for the right location. We are so grateful to have found this location and to finally be coming to Dallas,” said Oliver Badgio, chief brand officer of Steak 48. “This neighborhood has an energy that’s hard to miss, which makes it an exciting place for us to put down roots. This location gives us the opportunity to create something special and uniquely Dallas, exclusively for our new home in Dallas.”

A Family Of Steakhouse Icons

The concept comes from brothers Jeffrey and Michael Mastro, who are James Beard Award winners and part of the family behind several high-end restaurant brands. Before launching Steak 48, the Mastro family founded Mastro’s Steakhouse and Mastro’s Ocean Club, which were sold in 2007.

Jeffrey and Michael Mastro later partnered with their father, Dennis Mastro, and business partner Scott Troilo to build the current portfolio. The group now includes Dominick’s Steakhouse, Steak 44, Steak 48, Ocean 44, Ocean 48 and Durant’s Steakhouse.

What’s On The Menu

The culinary team plans to prioritize high-quality ingredients and use locally grown products when available. The menu will stick to the steakhouse staples while giving diners plenty of options beyond beef.

Prime steaks will be offered in different cuts and sizes, alongside fresh seafood and shellfish, raw bar selections, appetizers, entrees and sides. Some of the restaurant’s signature dishes include colossal shrimp cocktail, chef’s cut hanging bacon, corn crème brûlée and caviar cones.

An extensive wine list and craft cocktail menu will round out the offerings, whether guests are settling in for a full dinner or stopping by for drinks and a few bites.

Another Mastro Restaurant Is Headed To DFW

The Mastro name will soon have another North Texas connection, too. Mastro’s is planned for Fields West, an approximately $800 million mixed-use development within the larger Fields project in Frisco. Restaurants at Fields West are expected to begin opening in phases in late 2027 and continue into 2028.

For North Texas steakhouse fans, that means two Mastro-affiliated restaurants will soon have addresses in the region, with Steak 48 landing in Dallas and Mastro’s joining the Fields West lineup in Frisco.
