COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M football team has added Texas Southern to the 2027 schedule, replacing a nonconference matchup with New Mexico.
A&M athletic director Trev Alberts confirmed the addition to KBTX Wednesday, after it was first reported by FBSchedules.com.
The Aggies and the Tigers have never met on the football field. Prairie View A&M is the only other Southwestern Athletic Conference team the Aggies have faced, beating the Panthers in 2016 and 2021.
In May, the Aggies canceled their 2027 nonconference matchup with New Mexico, exercising the school’s right to terminate the game contract without financial penalty, Alberts confirmed with KBTX at the time.
This game replaces that New Mexico matchup as the 12th on the Aggie slate. A&M will host Texas State and travel to Arizona State to round out nonconference play.
Next season will be the second nine-game schedule for the Southeastern Conference, in which the Aggies will face Georgia, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State and Texas.
