The Relationship Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention office will host a tote bag painting event from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday in Science Hall Room 105.

The free event is part of the office’s Color Outside the Violence craft connect group.

The office looks to empower students who are victims and survivors of relationship or sexual violence to seek advocacy and support, according to office website.

Sidney Moreland, assistant director of the office, said the event looks to create connection and community among UTA students.

“When we have that community, when we have belonging, your risk to violence does go down,” Moreland said.

All supplies, including the tote bags and paint, will be supplied at the event.

On top of creating a community, Moreland said she hopes the event helps students learn and get more comfortable with the office in a casual setting.
