LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) -One of Lubbock’s nonprofits has made a change to its name. The Ronald McDonald House, which supports families with children in the hospital, is rebranding.
The Lubbock branch is now called “Ronald McDonald House Southwest,” dropping “Charities” from its name.
The change is part of a global rebranding for all Ronald McDonald Houses. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first house opening in Philadelphia.
“We’re all changing our name really just to help everyone know more about us, know our mission, know our heart,” a representative said. “Because obviously we have this big heart on all of our stuff. And really our heart is in this house and in the families we serve.”
The nonprofit makes sure parents and siblings can stay close to the hospital while kids receive medical care.
The house is always looking for new volunteers and new supporters.
