SAN ANTONIO – A Florida man was arrested for stalking a retired four-star general after traveling all the way from Florida to Fair Oaks Ranch.

Police records show Stephen Garrity, 48, arrived at the home of David Lee Goldfein, a retired United States Air Force general, on September 6. Garrity contacted Goldfein’s wife at the residence, identified himself by name and said he would “like to have a word” with Goldfein. Goldfein was not home at the time and after being informed of this, Garrity left the property. Goldfein and his wife say they do not know Garrity.

Police say the first contact from Garrity was reported in February, when Goldfein received a letter from Florida. Investigators describe the letter as containing vulgar language and threats, with Garrity calling himself “King Sir General Stephen C Garrity SR USAF” and using obscenities directed at Goldfein and others.

Garrity also wrote, “Take my CMH’s I have as a Blackbird pilot, U2 pilot, B1 pilot, B2 pilot and everything else and shove them up your f@#$ing ass.” Garrity signed the letter and listed his address and phone number.

Investigators say Garrity again traveled unannounced to Goldfein’s home on September 6, following the same pattern of behavior and then returned to Florida on the same day.

This prompted the Goldfein family to take firearms training.

“Having to keep loaded weapons in our home at this stage in our lives is quite unnerving (and depressing),” said Goldfein.

Authorities charged Garrity with stalking, a third-degree felony in Texas.
