Following the death of a 42-year-old Atlanta man at Six Flags Over Georgia, the Arlington-based company has announced the closure of nine similar coasters across six of their parks — but not at Six Flags Over Texas.

On Monday afternoon, Georgia officials announced a rider died in an accident at the amusement park and a number of people were injured.

Witnesses told WFAA’s sister station in Atlanta, WXIA, a man had been ejected from a car on the Goliath, a roller coaster that reaches up to 200 feet with a maximum speed of 70 mph.

On Tuesday morning, the Cobb County Police Department identified the man as 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem from Atlanta. Additional details regarding cause of death and injuries have not been released.

Six Flags confirmed to Star-Telegram news partner WFAA that all rides at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington remain open.

Where did Six Flags coasters close?

The New York Times reported that shortly after the incident, Six Flags Over Georgia shut down the Goliath roller coaster. Six Flags has not yet officially identified which coaster the incident happened on.

Police told WXIA that preliminary investigation indicates Kariem was “ejected from the ride” and hit other passengers before falling beneath the coaster.

The Goliath coaster has also been shut down at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California.

According to the New York Times, Six Flags has also shut down:

Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IllinoisNitro at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New JerseyLeviathan and Behemoth at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, OntarioFury 325 and Thunder Striker at Carowinds in Charlotte, North CarolinaOrion and Diamondback at Kings Island in Kings Island, Ohio

All rides at Six Flags Over Texas are operating as normal.

Has anyone ever died at Six Flags over Texas?

In 2013, 52-year-old Rosy Esparza from Dallas died at Six Flags Over Texas after being ejected 75 feet from The Texas Giant, a 14-story-high coaster.

Six Flags over Texas closed the ride after the incident but then reopened it two months after with redesigned restraint-bar pads and new seat belts. The ride reopened because Six Flags found no mechanical error was involved.

In 1999, Valeria Cartwright, 28, from West Helena, Arkansas, apparently drowned when a Roaring Rapids raft overturned at Six Flags Over Texas.

WFAA said that Kariem’s death is at least the seventh for Six Flags Over Georgia, including a 2006 accident when a man died from a heart attack while riding the Goliath.
