A driver died after a crash at the intersection of Aldine Westfield Road and Hirschfield Road on Thursday night, Oct. 15, according to preliminary information from investigators.
The crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. One vehicle was traveling northbound on Aldine Westfield Road when it collided with a vehicle exiting a parking lot.
The northbound driver suffered injuries and was given CPR at the scene before being rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The other driver suffered scratches and a fractured pelvis, according to investigators.
Investigators said the severity of the deceased driver’s injuries appeared inconsistent with the impact of the crash, raising the possibility that the driver experienced a medical episode before the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Investigators said the outcome of the investigation will depend, in part, on the medical examiner’s report.
