Arlington police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 63-year-old woman late Thursday.
Officers were dispatched to South Collins Street near Border Street about 9:15 p.m. after someone reported that a woman in a wheelchair had been hit by a car. The victim was seriously injured and later died at a hospital, police said in a news release.
The driver continued south on South Collins Street and didn’t stop to render aid, according to police. Investigators are trying to identify the vehicle.
Anyone with information about the fatal hit-and-run is asked to contact the Arlington Police Department at 817-274-4444. Anonymous tips can be phoned in to Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
The woman who died will be publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
“The Arlington Police Department wants to remind drivers that if they’re ever involved in an accident, state law requires them to stop, check to see if anyone involved needs help, and provide reasonable aid, which can be as simple as calling 911,” officials said in the release.
