EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Heavy wind gusts that hit the Borderland on Thursday night left some homeowners waking up to more than just a mess in their yards.
Landscaping was not the only concern this morning when residents woke up Friday morning as roofs were damaged in several areas of El Paso as winds reached more than 60 mph in some places

Shingles were seen scattered around multiple neighborhoods, including West El Paso and Canutillo.
Israel Soto, owner of El Paso Construction Group, went around Friday assessing damage and providing homeowners with quotes.
Soto said it’s best to consult with a roof expert to assess damage before filing a claim with your home insurance since the damages may be less than your insurance deductible.

When asked if this type of damage to homes due to wind is common in the area, Soto told KFOX14/CBS4, “It’s common in February and March; it’s not common in October. But yes, we see it every year, but this is surprising. It’s a total shift in gears for us roofers.”
