LUBBOCK, Texas — An investigation is currently ongoing by the Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit following a collision along Interstate 27 that sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Semi-truck rollover crash leaves driver seriously injured on I-27
Lubbock Police were initially called to I-27 and Keuka Street just after midnight on October 16 for a report of a collision with injuries. Upon arrival, Officers located Russell Mabry, 61, trapped inside a semi-truck. After being extracted by Lubbock Fire Rescue, he was transported to University Medical Center via ambulance with serious injuries.
Investigations revealed, the semi was traveling south when Mabry attempted to avoid striking debris from a previous wreck which occurred a short time before. Initial information indicates that this is when the semi and trailer broke through the guardrail and rolled down an embankment before finally coming to a rest on the access road south of the interstate.
