An investigation is underway after a White Settlement student allegedly made an online terroristic threat involving one of the schools, district officials told parents in a letter Thursday.
The school was not identified in the letter, but officials said the FBI learned of the threat and informed the White Settlement ISD Police Department. The threat had been made on Discord in a group called “764.”
“WSISD Police and campus administration immediately identified the student and began an investigation,” the letter states. “WSISD takes all threats seriously, and students who make threats of this nature may face significant disciplinary consequences as well as potential criminal charges.”
The “764” group is considered a violent extremist network, and it targets minors via social media and online gaming platforms, according to the FBI.
Students who see or hear anything that could be a safety concern should immediately talk to a campus administrator or police officer, the letter states. White Settlement ISD also has a TipLine where non-emergency issues can be reported.
