Among the first customers was Jose “Jojo” Eguia, who arrived at 6:52 a.m. to secure the first spot in line.

“It was super exciting. I got up at 6:30 and got here at 6:52 to be the first one,” Eguia told 3NEWS.

Eguia said he had been looking forward to the opening after seeing the store’s merchandise and promotions while visiting the mall the night before.

“There was tons of stuff, tons of goodie bags,” he said. “I saw tons of promotion on social media.”

He wasn’t the only one excited. Eguia said several other shoppers told him they had also gotten up early to attend the grand opening.

The new Urban Planet by Charlotte Russe store occupies a 23,986-square-foot, two-story space in La Palmera’s West Court, next to JD Sports on the main level and LensCrafters on the upper level.

The retailer offers affordable clothing and accessories for teens and young adults, including jeans, dresses, jackets, graphic tees, shoes and activewear.

To celebrate the opening, the first 100 shoppers were offered a store gift card and a special gift. A Buy Two, Get One Free promotion will also run through Sunday, Oct. 18.

Eguia said he was impressed with the clothing selection and encouraged others to visit.

“I think the fashion here is very, very good,” he said. “You definitely have to come check it out.”

Eguia also said he learned the store was hiring for additional positions.
