EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Northern Lights were visible in the Borderland on Tuesday night, Nov. 11, and KTSM 9 News received photos from our viewers showing how they lit up the sky.
You may not see the lights, but your phone probably will

According to NOAA, the Earth is experiencing a G4-Level Geomagnetic Storm, which is considered a “severe” disruption to the Earth’s magnetic field.
As increased energy and photons from the sun slam into the Earth’s magnetic field, that field acts as a deflection shield, absorbing the additional energy and protecting the Earth’s surface. As the electrons return to their normal, “relaxed” state, they emit a frequency that is perceived as red, green, or even aqua.
Sometimes, the colors are not evident to the human eye, but a scan with your phone can reveal the colors.
Those who missed the Northern Lights on Tuesday still have a chance to see them on Wednesday night.
If you have photos of the Northern Lights, send them to news@ktsm.com or to any of our social media platforms!
