Jeffery Porter, 38, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
MIDLAND, Texas — A man reportedly wanted in connection with a shooting in Lubbock was arrested Tuesday in Midland after being tracked by a Texas Department of Public Safety aircraft.
According to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, 38-year-old Jeffery Porter, was last seen on U.S. Highway 87 just south of Lubbock.
Authorities said members of the TAG Center in Lubbock passed along information to the TAG Center in the Permian Basin, where Porter was intercepted with help from the DPS aircraft.
Deputies took Porter into custody without incident. He’s been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
The TAG Center Permian Basin includes personnel from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Midland Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Midland County District Attorney’s Office, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and DEA/HIDTA.
