HOUSTON – Houston firefighters, families and friends gathered Saturday to honor the 85 members who have died in the line of duty during the annual Houston Firefighters’ Memorial Ceremony.
The ceremony was held Oct. 17 at the Houston Firefighters’ Memorial Garden, located at the Houston Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund facility in north Houston. The annual event honors fallen firefighters and remembers members who have died.
During the ceremony, special guests, including family members and elected officials, were selected to place a fire helmet and a rose in honor of the deceased.
The Houston Firefighters’ Memorial Garden was dedicated in March 2001. The memorial serves as a place to recognize the sacrifices of Houston firefighters who died in the line of duty and to honor their lasting legacy.
The annual ceremony brings together members of the fire service and the community to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.
