West Texas A&M
LUBBOCK, Texas (October 17, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University turned Senior Day into a celebration Saturday, rolling past Texas A&M-Kingsville 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) for its second consecutive Lone Star Conference sweep inside Rip Griffin Center.
The Lady Chaparrals improved to 10-11 overall and 6-5 in LSC play, while Texas A&M-Kingsville fell to 15-7 and 8-3.
LCU controlled the match at the net, piling up 12 blocks and holding the Javelinas to a .104 attack percentage. Freshman Kayson Reeves led the effort with seven blocks, including one solo, while Shaylee Stevens established a career high with five block assists.
Camryn Blair, Hope Gonsioroski and Camdyn Sears each recorded 10 kills. Sears hit .391 and added 16 assists for her 11th double-double of the season and 34th of her LCU career, one day after recording the program’s first triple-double in 36 years. Gonsioroski hit .296, while Blair reached double figures for the 10th time this season.
Lauren Hanson added a team-high 20 assists as LCU hit .284, including .390 in the second set. LCU erased an early 7-1 deficit in the opener with an 11-3 surge and never trailed again after taking a 12-10 lead.
Natalee Rush paced Texas A&M-Kingsville with 17 kills on a .419 hitting percentage.
Game Notes
» An obscure but wild statline emerged from the Lady Chaps’ victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville, as LCU captured its second consecutive win of the season (2-6) when trailing the opposition in service aces (TAMUK held a 3-1 advantage). The real anomaly was LCU’s uncharacteristic struggle behind the line; the Lady Chaps hit double digits in missed serves, finishing with 11 serving errors against just a single ace. For a team that entered the match dominating Lone Star Conference play with a 66-41 ace advantage (and a 46-31 edge at home), the resulting -10 differential was a rare statistical outlier. In fact, that -10 margin marks LCU’s largest deficit between aces and serving errors in over a decade, dating all the way back to a -11 performance (13 errors, 2 aces) against St. Mary’s on September 4, 2014. Proving that history loves a strange pattern, LCU defied the serving odds to pull off a gutsy victory in both matches.
» Camdyn Sears followed her first career triple-double (and the program’s first in 36 years) Saturday with her 11th double-double this season (and 34th of her career), as she had 16 assists and 10 kills. Sears, who never had a double-digit performance in kills prior to Friday, hit double-digits for a second consecutive match with her 10 kills Saturday. The sophomore also had a pair of blocks and LCU’s only serving ace in the match.
» Running a 5-2 for a second consecutive match also led to Lauren Hanson having a productive weekend, as she led the team in assists for the first time Friday with 14 (was a career-best for the freshman), and followed with a career-high 20 Saturday to lead the squad.
» LCU reached double figures in blocks for a third time this season, as they posted 12 blocks Saturday (1 solo and 22 assisted) for their second-highest season total (all three team efforts this season with at least 10 blocks have come in three-set matches). The 22 block-assists is a season high and the most since they had 22 in a five-set win (3-2) over Southwestern Oklahoma State (Sept. 12, 2025). Going even deeper, the last time LCU had 22-or-more block assists in a three-set match was Oct. 6, 2018 against St. Edward’s at home (LCU had 24 in that match). Kayson Reeves led LCU with seven blocks off a solo and six block assists. Shaylee Stevens produced a career-best five blocks (all block assists).
» Senior Day was celebrated prior to the match, as Camryn Blair, Ramsey Clark, Kyla Farnan, Kyla Farnan and student-assistant coach Drea Laughlin (active player on last season’s Lady Chaps squad) were recognized with their families prior to the match.
» The only lead change of the entire match came in the opening set, as LCU responded from a 7-1 deficit with an 11-3 scoring surge for a 12-10 lead.
» The Lady Chaps had a trio of players in double-figures in kills, as Camryn Blair, Hope Gonsioroski and Camdyn Sears each had 10 kills. Blair’s double-figure production marked her 10th performance with at least 10 kills this season and 16th of her career. Gonsioroski had double-figures in kills for a fourth time this season and the freshman has completed the task in a span covering the last six matches.
» LCU improved to 8-8 in straight-set decisions, as 16 of LCU’s 21 matches this season have resulted in 3-0 decisions. The loss was only the second 3-0 loss TAMUK has suffered this season.
» The Lady Chaps improve to 4-3 at home this season, as they have one home match remaining.
» LCU increases their all-time series advantage over Texas A&M-Kingsville to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in Lubbock. The Lady Chaps have won three straight meetings and five of the last seven, in a series that dates back to 1979.
