The conversation goes on and on. Who has the best barbecue in the Lone Star State? Well, one famous spot has collected more accolades than arguably any other smokehouse, and this week proves no different.
Finance Buzz has released its list of the most beloved barbecue joints in every U.S. state, listed alphabetically, and Franklin Barbecue earned the nod as the No. 1 most beloved barbecue joint in Texas. First opened as a food truck in 2009, Aaron Franklin’s barbecue joint moved into a brick-and-mortar in 2011 and has since become famous for its long line and brisket, which some say has become the gold standard in the world of Texas barbecue.
“As the best BBQ in Texas, Franklin Barbecue has it all, including brisket and pulled pork, so head straight here to avoid wasting money on lesser Texas BBQ,” Finance Buzz writes. “However, you’ll miss out if you don’t get there early. You may have to wait an hour in line only to be told they’re sold out. Everything on the menu is worth the wait, though, from the pork and beef ribs to the turkey. And don’t forget to order a slice of Bourbon Banana Pie for dessert.”
Curious what’s on the menu? Franklin Barbecue serves brisket at $42/pound, pork ribs at $34/pound, pulled pork and turkey at $32/pound and sausages at $26/pound. If you plan on visiting Franklin Barbecue, we recommend going on a weekday. There will still be a line, but you’re guaranteed a much shorter wait than on the weekend, when Austin is flooded with visitors.
