The San Antonio-based grocer officially opened its newest San Marcos grocery store in October at Interstate 35 and McCarty Lane. The 114,000-square-foot store introduced the city’s first True Texas BBQ restaurant, along with a pharmacy, curbside pickup and home delivery.
But the development has another component in the works. H-E-B expects a separate convenience store, fuel station and car wash to open in spring 2027, adding more services for drivers traveling along the busy I-35 corridor, according to H-E-B.
State records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation list a $4 million project for a new convenience store and fuel station with a car wash. The planned facility covers approximately 5,998 square feet and will be situated in front of the recently opened grocery store.
The additional development will give customers another place to stop for fuel and convenience items near the outlet malls and beyond.
Stores also carry traditional convenience-store items, including fountain drinks, beer, wine and snacks. H-E-B has not confirmed whether the planned San Marcos location will adopt the Fresh Bites branding or offer the same selection.
H-E-B has said the convenience store and fuel station are expected to open in spring 2027. An exact opening date has not been announced. The project adds to H-E-B’s growing presence in San Marcos, where the retailer’s newest grocery store expands its offerings in the busy retail area along I-35.
