Warming trend to continue through work week; rain returns by weekend

  • October 19, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Temperatures will climb into the 70s today and hold there through much of the week as a warming trend takes hold across the region.

KCBDKCBD(KCBD)

A few light showers and rumbles of thunder may develop as moisture from eastern New Mexico begins to sneak into the forecast area, but significant rain is not expected. Any precipitation that does develop will likely be minimal, with most storms producing little more than a light drizzle.

Quiet pattern will hold, with overnight lows dropping into the low to mid 50s. Southerly flow will continue to maintain the warmer air mass in place.

Mostly dry conditions will persist through the work week as high pressure continues to dominate the region. Temperatures will remain above normal by midweek, with southerly winds staying light at less than 15 mph.

Rain chances will return by late week into the weekend as the upper ridge weakens and shifts eastward, allowing moisture to work back into the area.
