The future of a San Antonio coffee and boba tea shop is unclear after property management took over access to the building. Google lists the business as permanently closed, while online ordering sites claim the spot is not accepting orders.
Teazzty Tea & Acai is a horror-themed beverage spot that evokes a Halloween feel year-round through its decorations. It’s located at 14510 Northwest Military Highway, Suite 104, near UT San Antonio and the RIM. Part of the Shavano Point Shopping Center, it’s neighbored by Marco’s Pizza, Toro’ko Sushi, and Dunkin’.
As of Monday, October 19, it is not operating, according to Delta Properties, the commercial real estate brokerage firm that manages the shopping center it is located in.
“We can confirm that the premises are currently closed and that access to the space has been secured by management,” Firm Vice President Chad Clark told MySA over email.
This follows a social media post that appeared to show a sign on the building doors stating that the landlord had changed the locks on the suite. The flyer shown in the post did not provide a reason, and Clark did not give details on why it’s currently shut down. The photo was shared in a public Facebook group where users support, discover and celebrate local coffee businesses.
Google lists the drink shop as permanently closed, while Uber Eats and Postmates both state on their websites that the business is not accepting orders at this time. Clark said the firm “cannot speak on behalf of the business regarding whether it intends to reopen or permanently cease operations.”
MySA reached out to Teazzty Tea & Acai but did not receive a response in time for publication. The company began promoting its spooky concept on its social media channels in March. Before then, it featured a car theme.
Typically, the shop is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Its website says it was “built for San Antonio’s scary movie marathons, first dates, study sessions, and anyone chasing their next killer craving.” Menu items include boba teas named “Killer Clown” and “Freddy Krueger,” and acai bowls titled “Pinkywise” and “Nightmare on Chia St.”
The business’s social media channels have been quiet since Tuesday, October 13. This is a developing story and will be updated as new information comes into our newsroom.
