Dallas County voters are being asked to approve a property tax increase of $.024 cents per $100 of valuation.

The county said the additional funds raised by the increase will be used to combat homelessness by helping homeless people achieve self-sufficiency and increase access to mental health treatment and support programs that provide stable housing.

On a $300,000 home, the increase would cost the homeowner an additional $72 per year before any homestead exemption was applied.
