AUSTIN, Texas — Circuit of The Americas now has a Texas-sized welcome for race fans: a cowboy hat Guinness World Records has certified as the world’s largest.
The track and Austin-based Western wear brand Tecovas unveiled the hat Monday, days before the Formula One United States Grand Prix. A Guinness team certified the record on site, according to the companies.
The hat is a scale replica of Tecovas’ Cattleman Cowboy Hat and measures 43 feet wide, 47 feet long and 17 feet tall, not counting the piers that hold it up. It is made of fiberglass and foam around a steel frame, with the fiberglass textured and painted to match the original hat.

It features a hat band, a steel horseshoe charm, and COTA and Tecovas logos designed to look like branding-iron marks.
A working bar sits underneath the hat. All ticketholders can use it during gate hours Thursday through Sunday of race weekend.
“This is a beautiful piece of art with a practical purpose — a place for fans to gather, enjoy some shade, and experience a little Texas hospitality,” said Bobby Epstein, COTA’s chairman.

Tecovas CEO David Lafitte called the hat “a massive celebration of our Austin roots and the bold spirit of Texas.”
Tecovas has partnered with COTA for the Grand Prix since 2022. The two will host their second annual “Haturday” on Saturday, Oct. 24, during race weekend, with activities for fans.
The hat will remain a permanent fixture at the track after the race, the companies said.
