EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso County will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to mark the completion of the first phase of the Pellicano Drive widening project.

The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 22 at 12751 Pellicano Drive, at Sunbelt Rentals.

The three-mile project extends from Loop 375 to Darrington Road and includes six lanes, raised medians and bike lanes.

The county said the work also included clearing overgrown vegetation, replacing traffic-control devices and beginning construction of a detention pond near a school to improve drainage and safety.

The Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority managed construction and oversaw the project’s design.
