The City of Arlington’s Community Court Program will celebrate the dedication of its new permanent home in Courtroom 5 at 101 S. Mesquite St. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026.

The date holds special significance for the program, which expanded shortly after its launch in March 2024 to include veterans. While the ceremony marks a new permanent location for Community Court, services for veterans have long been part of the program.

“It was really important to us when we started this program that we helped serve those individuals who served our country,” said Judge Dulaney, senior associate municipal court judge.

The City’s innovative Community Court Program helps veterans and eligible low-income residents resolve Class C misdemeanor violations through alternatives to paying fines, such as community service, workforce training, substance abuse counseling, earning a GED and more.

Funded by a $900,000 federal grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Arlington was one of only five cities nationwide selected to receive this highly competitive grant. The program addresses underlying issues, including financial hardship, homelessness, addiction and limited job skills, that may have contributed to individuals’ trouble with the law.

Previously held at the United Way space at 401 W. Sanford St., Community Court’s new permanent home reflects the City’s commitment to the program’s continued success.

The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony on Nov. 11, followed by a coffee and doughnut reception.
