WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) -The Midwestern State men’s soccer team enjoyed a big night at Stang Park, earning a victory over Lone Star Conference rival Lubbock Christian.
The Mustangs attacked right out of the gate when Alan Rivera delivered a place kick to Parker Plaxco for a header, but Chaps goalkeeper Milo Paci made the early save.
Moments later, Plaxco set up Cooper Tea with a cross for a shot on goal, but Paci came through again with another stop. Tea tried to break through shortly after on a free kick, but Paci swallowed up the attempt to keep the match scoreless.
Lubbock Christian looked to respond on a corner kick, but MSU’s Jake Morris went up to snag the ball in midair and shut down the scoring threat.
Midwestern State finally broke through in the 28th minute. Off a throw-in from Tea, the ball came loose in a crowd following a deflected strike from Davis Mays. Christopher Guevara pounced on the rebound and buried it into the back of the net to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.
MSU stayed in full control from there, rolling to a 4-1 victory over Lubbock Christian.
